What first got me hooked on mash-up DJs was Atlanta’s own Danger Mouse’s deeply underground The Grey Album, which collided Jay Z’s Black Album with the Beatles’ White Album. The mixes are stunning, and life was somehow incomplete when I only had a 96kbps version in my iTunes. Somewhere about a year ago, a buddy came off with a set of 192kbps files, and it was like hearing the album for the first time!

About the same time, I was listening to Bob Boilen’s NPR podcast All Things Considered. He turned me (and countless others) to Girl Talk. In what might be the best artist description ever, The New York Times Magazine calls the Girl Talk “a lawsuit waiting to happen.” When it hit my shuffle today while mowing the lawn, I knew it was the perfect SoundsGood post...

I could try to describe Gregg Gillis’ (whose stage name is Girl Talk) crazy mixed-up view of the world, but listening to the album is probably your best bet. If you like mash-up, this is a high water mark and you should download it. It’s Radiohead, pay-what-you-want style so take a listen to the MySpace streams and decide how much you want to give Girl Talk — it’s downloadable right there.

As a quick snapshot, below is the sample list for Hands In The Air, which you can hear on MySpace. Enjoy...
